Junior road safety officers

JRSO News

On Tuesday 1st October, Mrs Collins accompanied our Junior Road Safety Officers, Leighton and Elizabeth, along with the other JRSOs from our federation, to participate in the Selby Junior Road Safety Launch at the Civic Centre. They had a fantastic morning meeting fellow JRSO’s from other schools, where they had the opportunity to discuss ideas for promoting road safety within school.

The children talked about various road safety topics including school crossing patrols, parking issues, road signs and seat belt safety. They even had a surprise visit from the Seatbelt Sheriff!! Mrs Collins was extremely proud of all of our pupils for their outstanding behaviour during the launch and an extra thank Our JRSO’s will be running their first competition from next week, more details to follow.

Recently Elizabeth and Leighton ‘patrolled’ the front of school and handed leaflets out to parents and carers to highlight the problems that unsafe parking causes for our school and the wider community. They met with a good response from our parents and carers who were very supportive of their efforts.
