On Thursday 16th April, the children in all of our classes had a 'hands on' lesson in handwashing and how important it is for hygiene reasons, as well as helping to contain the spread of germs.

The teachers talked about the importance of hand hygiene and the children investigated different ways of washing their hands to find out which was the best method to be employed.  The children applied some special cream that can be seen under a UV light and then shone a UV torch on their hands, to show up areas any where germs can be present.   The children then washed their hands and once again shone the UV torch to see how effectively and efficiently they had washed their hands.

The photographs show Class 1 taking part in this experiment.
