Last week our afternoon focus work in Class 1 has been on RE. We have discussed ‘Celebrations’. We each talked about what we celebrate with our families and how we celebrate special occasions. We then found out about the Christian story of Jesus during Holy Week and why Easter is a special celebration for Christians. We also had the opportunity to take a closer look at Christian symbols linked to Easter and the reasoning behind them. We also discovered more about the Jewish faith and how they celebrate Pesach and how Moses led his people to safety. During our baking session with Mrs J. Smith and to finish off our topic, we created Easter crosses decorated with spring flowers to symbolise new life and new beginnings. The children have also been making Easter baskets and cards, as can be seen in our photo gallery.
