We had two very special visitors to join us last Monday who are ‘branching out’ again across the federation. Twig our Therapy Dog led Mrs Hall in and around school and spent valuable time in all 3 classes, once again getting to know our children, especially our new starters who met Twig for the very first time. Twig listened to readers, helped out with some maths and ‘pawsed’ for a time to sit quietly with the children. Mrs Hall was pleased to answer questions from the children regarding why Twig was visiting them, whilst Twig wagged her tail in approval.
Working with a Therapy Dog has been proven to help develop health and wellbeing for individuals and build confidence, through the calming effect the dog’s presence has on children. This comforting environment helps to nurture children’s enthusiasm for school and provides them with the confidence to learn without being judged.
