On the last week of the summer term, Class 1 (Reception and Year 1) visited the RHS Garden at Harlow Carr. We set off really early at 8.30am to start our day with beautiful weather, befitting a visit to such a prestigious garden. We took part in two workshops. Our first workshop explored how plants grow; in an interactive journey through the garden, to let us begin to understand how plants grow and what they need to grow healthily. We explored the unique collection of plants from the smallest shoots to the largest trees and identified the important parts that all plants share. We looked for and found inspiration in the unique garden, reflecting and responding to the constantly changing shapes, colours and textures through the seasons. We discovered and used natural materials with a range of hands-on activities to begin our next art project. You can see from the photos in the gallery, how much we enjoyed our day!
