Class 3 pupils took part in an online Islamophobia workshop with pupils from all over the country on 21st May. Throughout the workshop, pupils learnt about what Islamophobia is, why it is a hate crime, examples of Islamophobia in the media, specific scenarios where people have been targeted and then a discussion around where Islamophobia stems from. Pupils then looked at the importance of RE and some of the famous Muslims from Britain, including Sadiq Kahn, Amir Kahn, Mo Farah and Moen Ali.
Our children found the workshop to be very insightful, as can be demonstrated by their following comments.
'It was really interesting to learn about what Islamophobia is and what horrible things people do'. - Sofia.
'I enjoyed learning about the different famous Muslim people' - Henry.
'I am shocked that people would do something so horrible - we need to do something to stop it' - Sophia.
