On the 6th and 13th of March our Class 2 and Class 3 children took part in a willow weaving workshop as part of Forest Schools. Mrs Wendy Jayne Bristow from Sprigs & Twigs joined the children to teach them how to make willow bird feeders from start to finish.
The children started by inserting their willow twigs into spaced holes in a wooden base then working in pairs to begin with started to weave the willow into the twisted shape of a bird feeder. As their weaving progressed they were able to complete the task on their own.
Mrs Hall will be surveying the school site and under her direction the children will be hanging the feeders up to attract the wide range of garden birds that have been seen visiting our school.
