Last week we researched Aztec headdresses as part of our ongoing history topic. The children then had a chance to create their own. Although we couldn't provide feathers from the sacred Quetzal bird (associated with the Aztec snake god Quetzalcoatl) we used some beautiful colours and arrangements, including peacock feathers! We have moved on to look at Aztec gods and goddesses this week. Huitzilopochtli, Chalchiuhtlicue and Tezcatlipoca are examples of some of the names we’ve had the challenge of pronouncing correctly!
