We have had a fantastic start to the school year. The children have worked hard, learning about the Mayans. So far, we have looked at who the Mayans were, when they were around as a civilisation and where on our planet they lived. We have also had great fun reading our class story, The Chocolate Tree, which has inspired us to write our own Mayan Folk Tales. In maths, we have been working hard on the 5x tables on a morning with a big focus on place value and representing numbers using resources, pictures and numbers. We have also loved our science, where we have had some very fun investigations into whether or not plants are actually alive, as well as seeing how water is transported in plants (using food colouring to see if the petals would change colour).
