Romans

It was a bit of a tense day in school recently when Class 2 became Romans for the day and went into battle! Leading up to the day of battle, Class 2 became a creative sea of cardboard, as the children designed and then created their Roman shields, ready to test them out in battle.  The children made a formation of Romans and Britons in the playground and conducted an experiment to see if the shields were strong enough to withstand an onslaught of (deadly) bean bags.  We were pleased to discover that the Romans survived the attack and no staff member or child was sacrificed during the experiment.  As you can see from one of the photos below, Mrs Parris is well protected by her Roman Army.

Harvey said “I liked it when we threw the bean bags at each other and it was great making our own shields.”

Georgia said “I really liked painting the details onto my shield and having a practise run.  I think that it would have been a bad time to live in the Roman times, as some of the people were unkind.
