Bake Sale

On Thursday, 21st March all of our families were invited by the BPASA to put on their 'Mary' or 'Prue' heads  and enter The Big Barlow Bake Off.  The competition was well entered in the three categories of KS1 (Nursery to Year 1), KS2 (Year 2 to 6) and Parent and Child.  The entries filled the school Staff Room until they were judged, culminating with them being sold off at the end of school to raise money for the BPASA funds which help to purchase valuable and well-needed resources for the children and school.

As you can see from the gallery photos the entries were very well thought out and the end results were a mouth-watering delight of large cakes, small, cakes,  biscuits and buns, worthy of a tea party fit for a king!  The BPASA Committee invited Shona, Morrisons Community Champion who kindly came to judge the competition, along with some of our children, Eliza, Sienna, Eva and Henry.

The winners were announced as KS1 sisters Ava and Freya, who had worked together to make some white chocolate Easter bunnies, KS2 Sienna who made a unique chocolate slab and the Parent and Child category being awarded to Leo and Reggie and Mum Jessica, who made a very large chocolate cake decorated with fluffy Easter chicks and chocolate eggs.

Pictured in our gallery photos are Shona Hancock (Morrisons Community Champion) with Naomi Durham, Chair of the BPASA presenting prizes donated by Morrisons to competition winners Leo, Ava, Freya and Sienna, along with Shona and our other judges Eliza, Georgia, Eva and Henry.  A big thank you to all who entered.

At the end of the school day the delicious, sweet treats were sold off, as parents and children flocked to buy them, raising a total of a fabulous £85.60 towards the BPASA funds.

Shona advised that "I was very honoured to be invited into school to help judge the Easter baking competition and draw the Easter raffle on Thursday. I really enjoyed the afternoon and was amazed at the talent of  all the children that took part. There were some wonderful entries! It is a great privilege that I am able to donate to great schools and causes across our District. Actually being able to see what happens to donations after they're collected was a wonderful insight and I am extremely grateful."

Once The Big Barlow Bake Off winners had been chosen, Shona helped to pick out the winners of the BPASA Easter Raffle which ran in conjunction with the Bake Off.  There were many great prizes to be won, raising a total of £80 towards BPASA funds.  Naomi and the BPASA Committee would like to thank Shona and Morrisons for their Easter egg donations and continued support and the school community who have contributed to all of the Easter activities to boost funds.
