easter

The week leading up to our Easter holiday was both egghausting and egghilarating!  Our pupils and staff had a full week of activities with prizes sourced and funded by our newly formed BPASA (Barlow Parent, Adult and Staff Association) who judged our competitions and ran an Easter egg raffle.  Read on to find out more about our week in school and please take a peek at our photo gallery.

Easter Egg Decorating Competition

A spectacular display of decorated eggs and Easter scenes were brought into school on Wednesday, 29th March with 18 children across our 3 classes taking part.  Mrs Dodds from the BPASA had a difficult decision to make to choose the winner from Minions, Spiderman, a campsite scene and a pond scene, to name a few.  After a bit of head-scratching the winners were Mia Sp in Class 3 with her natural woodland garden scene, Sienna in Class 2 with her Barlow School and Millie in Class 1 with her traditional Easter cross theme. The girls received their prizes in the Collective Worship Assembly at the end of the week.  A total of £18 was raised for the BPASA funds from entries to the competition.

Easter Bake Sale

On Thursday, 30th March our parents and staff were invited by the children of The School Council to bring in their bakes, for the Bake Sale during the afternoon.  A multitude of cakes and bakes were brought into school with a definite Easter theme being apparent.  When the gates opened for the parents to arrive the queue was long but everyone was pleased to wait patiently when they saw the treats in store for them.  The Bake Sale raised a total of  £120.60 towards the BPASA funds.

Easter Egg Raffle

Our raffle was fully facilitated by the members of our BPASA who worked hard to secure prizes, distribute and collate the tickets and then run the final draw on Thursday, 30th March. The raffle was a great success, raising a spectacular £360.10 for the BPASA funds.  A big thank you to all of the member of our school community for supporting the raffle and to the members of the BPASA for doing a splendid job and raising so much money for our children.

Easter Bonnet/Hat Competition

On Friday, 31st March, 28 children entered the competition to decorate an Easter bonnet or hat, again to raise funds for the BPASA.  The bonnets and hats were displayed in school and judged by Mrs Durham from our BPASA.  Mrs Durham had a very hard time judging, as the variety of entries were of such a high quality.  The winners, Class 3 Mia Sp, Class 2 Charlie and Class 1 Hana were awarded with their prizes in Collective Worship during the afternoon. A total of £30 was raised from competition entries.

Easter Egg Rolling

The end of the week was marked with the Easter tradition of boiled egg rolling, once the children had decorated their hard-boiled eggs.  The winners from each class from Nursery to Year 6 were Henry M, Oliver, Blake, Aria, Rhys, Regan, Mia and Erin being awarded a prize in assembly.  Thank you to the Fenteman family for being our egg donors.

The week ended with a Collective Worship Assembly on Friday afternoon where the winners of all of our Easter competitions were awarded with their prizes, courtesy of the BPASA and presented by committee members Mrs Durham and Mrs Dodds.  The children also had a surprise as every one of them was presented with a chocolate Easter egg which was generously donated to the BPASA by Barlow Parish Council.

A big thank you to our parents, carers, staff, pupils, School Council and BPASA for making our Easter celebration week a cracking success and for supporting us in every way.  From all the staff at Barlow School, we wish you all a safe and happy Easter holiday.
