World Book Day

Thursday, 2nd March was an exciting day in school for our children, to explore their love of reading, whilst becoming their favourite book character for the day.  Wow, our children and staff really pulled out all the stops to dress up and enjoy the day.  As you can see from the photographs, we had a wide variety of book characters who all got together in the afternoon for a shared read.  It was lovely to see all of the children enjoying their time (and a good book) with each other.

Class 1

We had lots of fun on World Book Day in Class 1. We loved to dress up and show off our amazing outfits! We had fun discussing our favourite stories and our shared love for the Julia Donaldson book 'The Scarecrow's Wedding'. We decided to make scarecrow biscuits which were super yummy!

Class 2

We had a wide range of characters turning up for school in Class 2 in World Book Day including Harry Potter, Hermione Grainger, Where’s Wally and Willy Wonker.  A fun time was had by all, drawing the book characters that we became on this day on bunting, along with the book covers to accompany the characters.

Class 3

We wrote some fractured fairy tales. The children took traditional tales and changed certain elements to make the stories more exciting or modern. Titles included Goldilocks and the Three Burping Bears, The Prince (A Cinderella story), Sleeping Ugly, The Three Little Elephants, Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, Beauty and the Beast, The Billy Goats Gruff Revenge and Sleepless Beauty. We thoroughly enjoyed writing these stories!
